Making of Maker Faire thoughts

If you have never heard about Maker Faire, then you are not paying attention. I have talked about it repeatedly on this blog. Several of our guests came from it. There are all sorts of pictures and movies online about it. This amazing fair happens annually in the Bay Area and increasingly all over the country, and even the world!

Makers are creative, inventive, artistic and super-smart. But I figured it would also be like herding cats. So I wanted to see who was in charge of it, Sherry Huss. I have been hoping to get her on the show for a long time. She is the director of Maker Faire. I wanted her to explain about how they put it together and how she manages to collect and organize all those makers.

She was even more fabulous than I expected and she has a great speaking voice. She brought signage from the Faire, as well as books and magazines explaining how to make things, to dress up the set. She graciously gave the crew the books and magazines after the interview. I received the Fashioning Technology book I’d been thinking of buying. Excellent.
