This was a delightful film. Ultimately, it's a coming-of-age film. The setting was quite different than most, which made it more fun. The premise was more standard, however.

Connor, a broken-hearted young man, takes a trip. He ends up in a third world country, where he acts the naive American. Connor subsequently ends up in awful to average lodgings, where he gets robbed. Drunk and morose, he desperately calls his parents for advice. His father sagely recommends to seize the experience. From that point on, Connor relaxes and the adventure coalesces in a coherent manner.

I enjoyed watching the trek through the jungle with the exploration. I had several issues with elements of the story. The largest is one of language. I don't understand how the son of a Spanish-speaking mother, with immediate relatives still living in Spanish-speaking countries, cannot speak or understand Spanish at all.
